Services Offered
I run a full service commercial photographic studio handling commissions from a diverse range of large and small businesses. I shoot products and services for catalogues and websites; press and PR for magazines and newsletters; fashion, architecture and advertising photography for a host of local and international clients.
I started out working in a portrait and wedding studio in Nottingham and attended a City and Guilds course at Leicester Uni part time. I soon moved on to assisting a commercial photographer, learning the trade as I progressed, eventually working as a staff photographer in a local studio. I became a freelance and set up my own studio in Nottingham in 1987.
Over the last 20 years, I have exhibited some of my personal work at exhibition, winning the occasional accolade, and have also gained acceptance as a supplier of creative imagineering(?) to the Science Photo Library in London.
About 4 years ago I took the plunge into digital photography, investing £20,000 in a state of the art digital/computer compliment although I still shoot 5x4 and 10x8 format film when required. ( usually by fussy artists looking for copy work! ) The investment has been instrumental in securing my current client base and has allowed me to approach new business at the same professional level as much bigger photographic studios.
I am currently working on a series of personal projects involving a more 'fine art' approach to photography which I hope to market either through self financed promotion or via a gallery. About a year ago I was featured in an American monthly magazine called ' New Nude Mag' ( which is actually quite arty and not as seedy as it sounds) after I sent in a collection of arty 'body shapes' taken for a models portfolio. This generated a wealth of praise - no work of course! - but the complimentary comments were greatly appreciated!
In the future I would like to expand more into the fine art market and hopefully stage my own exhibition which has been a personal goal of mine since I first picked up a camera!
