About Doug Richard
Doug's expertise is backed by some very impressive credentials. A successful entrepreneur with over 20 years' experience in the development and leadership of technology and software ventures, Doug featured in the first two TV series of Dragon's Den. He is an active angel investor, the Founder of School for Startups, Chairman of the Conservative Party Small Business Task Force, and non-executive director of Pearl Software, Urbanites + Scooters and Beats Digital.

Between 1996 and 2000 Doug was President and CEO of Micrografix, a US publicly quoted software company. prior to that he also founded and subsequently sold two other companies: Visual Software and ITAL Computers.

Doug holds a BA in Psychology from the University of California at Berkeley and a Juris Doctor at the School of Law, University of California at Los Angeles. In 2006 Doug was an Honorary Recipient of the Queen's Award for Enterprise Promotion and in 2007 he became a fellow of the RSa. In 2009 Doug received an Honorary Degree and is now a Doctor of the University of Essex.

Chris Hall - The Hive Nottingham Trent University's Centre for Entrepreneurship and Enterprise

Chris will give a brief outline of the services, programmes and functions that Nottingham Trent University provides through The Hive to support student and graduate enterprise and entrepreneurship through a range of both in-curricula and extra-curricula activities.

About Chris Hall
Chris is Business Manager at The Hive, a purpose built centre for entrepreneurship and enterprise at Nottingham Trent University. The Hive was created in 2001 to help support staff, students and alumni develop high growth creative, knowledge and technology based start-up enterprises. It also gives them the skills to run their own businesses, as well as to help drive the entrepreneurship agenda into the curriculum across the University.

Prior to joining The Hive, Chris worked for over 35 years in a wide range of companies throughout British Industry from 'blue chip' to SMEs, in sectors ranging from heavy engineering to food and drink and from roofing products to plastics. Principally employed in roles of operational management, manufacturing and logistics, he has managed several subsidiary operations for major public limited companies and has also run his own business consultancy.
