Fine Art @ NTU presents The Live Lecture Series
Rachel Reupke
Since 2000, London based artist Rachel Reupke has made a series of video works exploring the representation of landscape as a physical embodiment of political, social and psychological space. The mediation of human experience through technology (for entertainment or otherwise), is also a strong thread that runs through the work. Employing a variety of delivery systems including cinematic special effects, webcams and camera obscura, Reupke has deconstructed these formats for re-examination in the gallery, cinema and internet.
More recently, her work has changed its focus to develop ideas of both a more personal and political nature. Recent video, collage and sculptural works have drawn upon aspects of social positioning and its links to taste and style as defined by popular media.
Rachel Reupke's videos have been widely exhibited in galleries and film fesitvals. Recent exhibitions include Swing Gang at Moot in Nottingham, The Politics in the Room, an online moving image project created by the LUX Associate Artists Programme; Cinema Sim at Instituto Itau Cultural, Sao Paulo, Brazil; Zodiac 3000 at International Project Space, Birmingham and Come and Go: Fiction and Reality at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Portugal. She will be exhibiting her latest video work at Picture This in Bristol this coming January.
Please be seated @ 11am sharp - late comers will not be admitted. First come first served basis.
