Fine Art @ NTU presents The Live Lecture Series

FrenchMottershead

Rebecca French and Andrew Mottershead create art works that explore ideas of identity, social ritual and the everyday public and private realms in which they are played out. Through performative events, photographs, video and text work, they subvert sites and engage audiences complicity in the creative act.

Recent work includes their interactive performative event 'Club Class' at Tate Modern and Tate Liverpool, and commissions from the Liverpool Biennial and EASTinternational 2007, selected by Matthew Higgs and Marc Camille Chaimowicz.

Their current project, SHOPS, looks at society through the lens of local shops, and concludes with a major exhibition at Site Gallery, Sheffield, late 2009. The exhibition brings together a collection of intimate portraits of the world created and sustained by local shops and shopkeepers, made by the artists as they've worked in cities in Brazil, China, Romania, Slovenia, Turkey and the UK. A symposium and a publication follow in early 2010.
